Society founded in 2002 for the study and preservation of sculpture from the Low Countries
The Low Countries Sculpture Societyaims to increase communication and foster discussion on an international level between sculpture historians, conservators, collectors, curators, custodians and all those interested and enthusiastic about this medium, as well as to enable the research and preservation, both materially and intellectually, of sculpture, medals and sculptors’ drawings from the Low Countries, from antiquity to the present day. Charity registered in Belgium (vzw/asbl).
The Society organises : * Lectures about Low Countries sculpture * Study visits to museums, exhibitions, churches and/or other notable collections of sculpture * An Annual Study Trip to visit sculpture in a part of the Low Countries or to a notable foreign ‘sculpture’ destination * International conferences * Publications
The Society also actively encourages : * The organisation of exhibitions * The conservation of Low Countries sculpture * The acquisition by museums and public collections of Low Countries sculpture, medals and sculptors’ drawings
